The Tsuruoka Science Park Festival 2025, organized annually with the participation of the Tsuruoka Science Park, was held on November 1 (Saturday).
Now in its third year, the festival has become a well-established event fostering interaction between local residents, researchers, and industry professionals. This year, efforts were further strengthened to increase awareness of the Tsuruoka Science Park as a leading hub for advanced biotechnology. Outreach initiatives included expanded flyer distribution to elementary, junior high, and high school students across the Shonai region, redesigned promotional materials, and enhanced use of social media.
During the event, most facilities within the park were opened to the public. At the main venue, talk sessions such as “Exploring Alumni from Tsuruoka College and Tsuruoka Science Park” and “Spotlight on High School Researchers at Keio IAB” were held, featuring company employees, as well as high school research assistants and special research students from the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University. The sessions created a warm and engaging atmosphere for discussion.
A total of 45 booths were exhibited, including hands-on and showcase booths by park-based organizations and companies, collaborative booths between park tenants and local businesses, and food booths featuring products co-developed by Keio IAB and regional companies. In addition, 17 food trucks contributed to a lively and diverse event experience.
New initiatives such as a stamp rally to create original tenugui (traditional hand towels) and photo spots were also well received, allowing visitors to enjoy science in interactive ways.
Despite light rain in the morning, the weather improved in the afternoon, and the event welcomed over 2,000 visitors, an increase of approximately 600 compared to last year, with a strong turnout from local students.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a success.
