A research team including Dr. Hideki Makinoshima, Research Advisor at the Cancer Metabolomics Laboratory, Shonai Regional Industry Promotion Center (also Team Leader at the National Cancer Center Tsuruoka Metabolomics Laboratory and Visiting Professor at the IAB, Keio University), and Dr. Masaru Mori of the IAB, Keio University (then Assistant Professor, currently at Nagoya University), in collaboration with Dr. Mamiko Yajima of Brown University, has revealed the critical role of metabolites in sea urchin embryonic development.
The research team in Tsuruoka contributed through metabolomics and proteomics analyses, providing key insights that may help advance our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the origin of life.
