MetaGen Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Biosciences at Keio University, the International Research Center for Infectious Diseases at the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo, and Teijin Limited, revealed that ingestion of inulin in a novel coronavirus infection animal model using hamsters significantly inhibited mortality caused by COVID-19 in hamsters. This was achieved by increasing the levels of secondary bile acids derived from gut microbiota in both feces and blood.
