Research group including Tomoro Warashina (2nd year doctoral student at the Graduate School of Policy and Media Management, Keio University) and Professor Akio Kanai (Professor at the Graduate School of Policy and Media Management, Keio University), affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Biosciences at Keio University, in collaboration with Japan Atomic Energy Agency, announced that they have identified microbial communities inhabiting within the reactor buildings of the decommissioning process at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
