Yamagata Design Co., Ltd., based in the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, has been working on urban development projects to transform local city challenges into opportunities since its founding in 2014. As they approach their 10th anniversary in 2024, they aim to expand their initiatives in Shonai to other regional cities nationwide, intensifying the provision of solutions as tools for addressing challenges. In line with this, they are adopting a new vision, ‘Let it be the hope of the regions,’ and changing their company name to ‘SHONAI Co., Ltd.’ to symbolize the place of their foundation. This move strengthens the starting point in Shonai and aims to create actions that transform challenges into opportunities for regional cities across Japan through models developed there.
