【Institute of Advanced Bioscience】Gene delivery using a novel mitochondria membrane-penetrating peptide.

A collaborative research group led by Keiji Numata, Team Leader of the Bio-based Polymer Research Team at the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science (also a professor at Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering) and Naoto Yoshinaga, a Basic Science Special Researcher at the Keio University Institute for Advanced Biosciences, has discovered that a complex composed of functional peptides inspired by mitochondrial membrane proteins and plasmid DNA (pDNA) selectively accumulates in mitochondria within cells and allows for highly efficient gene expression inside them.
